Last Days of Winter

Today was our last semi-cool day of the season. After today they are predicting warmer temperatures here in Houston. While I welcome the warmer temperatures and cute spring clothes I wanted to post one more winter weather outfit.

I found this amazing fringe cardigan on clearance at Nordstrom Rack. I paired it with a white tank and Black pumps also from Nordstrom Rack. The boyfriend jeans are from H&M and the necklace is from T.J.Maxx.

Minimalism

Today I decided to use minimalism in my outfit. It has been a growing trend for a while now. With minimalism less is more so I decided to go with a solid black top and simple silver chain necklace. For my shoes I chose my natural colored lace up flats.

How to Organize a Small Closet

With Spring right around the corner my mind starts to drift to spring cleaning and organizing. One of the places that I always try to keep organized and clean is my closet. After all for a fashion addict this is the most important room in the house.

So here are some of my tips and tricks to an organized closet. These tips work for a closet of any size and can be done on a very small budget.

First I'm sure you noticed those large white hanging shelves on the right side of my closet you can purchase these from Target for around $10 each. I use these shelves to hold my cardigans, hats and bags. I keep my sweaters and cardigans here because I don't want to stretch them out by hanging them up and I don't want to put them in a drawer because then I'll forget to wear them. After all I'm sure you've heard the saying "If you can't see it you won't wear it." This is the same reason why I also store my purses on these shelves. Plus it's also a convenient place to put my hats. Special note that green hat that you can see in the picture below was worn by my grandfather in the Korean War.

Next on to my shoes. I store my boots on the floor mainly because they just don't fit any where else. For my tall boots I put cut up pool noodles inside them to keep them from falling over. I line my shorter boots and booties up on the other side of my closet under my dresses. For the rest of my shoes I have three hanging shoe holders that you can get from Target for about $8 (yes 3, I know that's a lot of shoes.)

Next on to my clothing. For my pants and jeans I separate the jeans and casual pants from my work appropriate pants to make it easier for me to get dressed in the mornings.

I separate my tops first by sleeve length then by color.

I also separate my dresses by color. But in the past I have also tried organizing them by occasion or work appropriateness.

My jackets are just all together they aren't organized in any other way.

My 3/4 and long sleeve tops are not organized by color but instead by fabric. I separate them into knits, chiffon type fabrics, lace, button down, and finally flannel.

I also have my skirts separated from my shorts.

Now for the quick tips and tricks section!

One quick trick that is easy to pull off and can make any closet look organized even if it isn't really is having all matching clothes hangers. I like these velvet ones that I got at Home Goods but there are cheaper hangers out there that you can buy that will do the trick.

Next make sure the items on your shelves are neat and orderly. Fold your blankets and similar items neatly to give your closet a polished look.

Your closet will look ten times more organized with less stuff stacked on top of each other. High stacks of boxes or other items just look messy. A good general rule that I follow is no more than two boxes stacked on top of each other.

Another quick tip is to have a spot to hang your empty hangers. It not only gives your closet a cleaner look but also causes you not to have to search for a hanger when you are putting clothes away.

Something else I like to do is keep my socks, slips, spanks, and camisoles in my closet. This really makes it easier to get dressed with everything in the same place. Especially if I decided I don't like something and end up changing my whole outfit. I keep my socks and slips in the set of plastic drawers and I keep my camisoles in those to white drawers on the hanging shelves that you can purchase at Target.

 Happy organizing!

Blogging All Day

I had so much fun styling this outfit. It was my last outfit to shoot that day so the message on this tee really rang true. I had been debating for a while about how to style this tee and skirt but I hadn't thought about putting them together until I saw them laying next to each other on my bed while I was coming up with outfits to shoot. I am so happy with the way it turned out.

Geometric Tribal Print Top OOTD

I was so excited when I saw this insanely cute geometric top. The colors are just gorgeous and I loved the way it fit. It took me a little while to decide on how to style it. My first instinct was to pair it with a skirt but that just made me look too big so I finally settled on my trusty flares.

How to Transition Your Winter Booties to Spring

Follow my blog with Bloglovin
If you are like me then you absolutely love booties! I definitely don't want to stop wearing them now that the weather is going to start turning warmer so here are some tips on taking those booties from winter into spring.

A fun way to style your booties for spring is to wear them with shorts and tights like the outfit below. However, if you don't want to wear tights that's fine too I just think they really pull this look together. When wearing this look make sure your top really says spring like this floral print sleeveless top.

How to Dress Edgy Without Looking Scary

Ever wanted to wear an edgy outfit but didn't want to look unapproachable or scary? Well it is really easy to do by just adding a few feminine touches to your outfit.

I generally try to go half and half with my pieces. I either go for an edgier look on top or bottom and then balance it out with a feminine piece on the other half. For example today I wore edgier pieces on the bottom like my coated jeans and embellished booties. Then I paired it with a floral chiffon top to balance it out. After using my 50/50 rule I always add a piece that ties it all together. I chose this knit vest because of its edgy bold color but also for its feminine soft feel.
You could also do the same thing by choosing an edgier top and maybe pairing it with a tulle skirt and edgier shoes. Just apply the 50/50 rule and then add a piece that ties it all together.

How to Look "All That" in All Black

I often have to wear all black outfits for concerts and events due to my job. I have gotten much better at really showing my personality but still wear all black.

When most people dress in all black they typically wear black dress slacks and a black top and/or jacket or blazer. I, however, like to change it up and put a little bit more effort into my outfit.

I start with two basic pieces whether its pants and a shirt, a skirt and a shirt or a dress. Next I add my accessories based on the basics that I pick. I try to choose black accessories that have some character to them. For example, this black blazer has a lace print and the black booties have fringe with a big buckle on them. I chose to pair this necklace with the outfit because typically when I have to dress in all black it's because I don't want to draw too much attention to myself. It is still a chic necklace but won't reflect too much light like say a big statement necklace would. Lastly I always carry a brightly colored bag so that when I'm not working it will give the outfit a pop of color and draw peoples eyes to my outfit.

Valentines Day Favorites

Valentines Day Favorites
I have been trying for days to take some photos for new posts but I have had absolutely no luck. Even though the weather has been nice in Houston it has been super windy and my photos keep coming out over exposed.

So I decided instead of making an outfit post I would post some of my favorite items I have come across for Valentine's Day. I hope you like them!
