Last weekend I got the glorious opportunity to take a belated birthday trip and visit the Modcloth IRL (In Real Life) Fit Shop in Austin, Texas. I was so excited because Modcloth is seriously like my favorite clothing store everything on their website is super cute, fun and a lot of the times vintage inspired. In fact they have a whole page on their website dedicated to selling actual vintage clothing and accessories as well.
When Modcloth announced that they would be stopping in Austin on their Modcloth IRL tour I knew I had to make the two and a half hour trek from Houston to be able to experience this awesome opportunity. In addition to just visiting their Fit Shop you can also schedule an appointment with a Modcloth employee who will help you pull items to try on and suggest outfits and ways to pull outfits together. I was lucky enough to snag one of these coveted appointments.
Below are some pictures from around the shop. I loved this big "Modcloth heart Austin" wall it was fantastic.
They had several of their shoes, accessories and home items on display around the store. I seriously wanted to buy everything. I loved how they used these wooden boxes to create really interesting display areas.
I had to snag a photo of these embellished jeans because I thought they were so cute.
And this large pineapple shaped pool float is to die for I absolutely love it.
I am definitely going to be DIYing these cute sprinkle candles later.
They even had some tanks that said "Modcloth heart Austin" they were so cute. I loved how it was completely Texas themed as well.
My appointment was with Lara who is a merchandise planner at Modcloth. She was fantastic and super bubbly which made the appointment so much fun. If you want to learn more about Lara here is a link to a Modcloth blog post all about her. The below photo is from that blog post.
The first thing we did when my appointment started was talk so she could get to know me and my style a little bit better. She already had a lot of my information and preferences from the questionnaire you fill out when reserving your appointment but it was so nice that she took the time to really get to know what I was looking for.
Next she took me around the shop and helped me choose items to try on. She would suggest things that she thought would look great on me or would go great with other items I was planning to try on.
After going around the store she went to the back room to pull the items we chose in my sizes for me to try on. They only have two of each item on display out front and then you write down the product number in order for them to pull your correct size to try on. They even had my name on a dressing room to reserve it for my appointment which was so nice because the other dressing rooms were full the whole time I was there.
Below are some examples of what she pulled for me. I don't want to show everything I tried on so that you won't have seen them before I blog about them later.
The first item I tried on was this super cute popsicle dress. (Shop it on Modcloth
here.) To be honest when shopping online at Modcloth I never would have chosen this dress because I normally don't go for such a whimsical print but after seeing and trying it on in person I am now a whimsical print fanatic. She also pulled this really cute pair of pink heels (Shop them on Modcloth
here) for me to try on with the dress and they went together perfectly.
For the next outfit I wore a cute sundress with a semi open back view it here on Modcloth. She pulled a navy blue cardigan (view here) for me to wear to make the sleeveless dress work appropriate. Then she said she had the perfect pair of shoes (view here) to go with this dress. When she brought them out it was like a match made in heaven the shoes go perfectly with this dress.
And the last look I am going to share with you today is this super fun red paisley print dress (view here.) I absolutely love the sleeves on this dress they are so fun and chic. My favorite part of this dress is the wide tie back. Plus this dress is so soft and comfortable. Lara suggested some really cute cowgirl style ankle boots (view here) to go with this dress and they looked amazing.
All in all it was a wonderful experience I wish that they could go nationwide with permanent Fit Shops. Their next stop on the tour is in Washington D.C. so if you live close by get ready and plan your visit to the Modcloth IRL Fit Shop.
