What I Wore: Houston Symphony Edition

I recently had the opportunity to go see a Houston Symphony concert with some coworkers. While I was there I noticed that there were several people who had no idea how to dress for the occasion.

Here is your how to guide to dressing for a trip to the symphony.
1. The symphony is a sophisticated event so it is important to dress in a sophisticated manner.
2. Be very careful not to show too much skin. I try not to wear skirts that are more than an inch or two above my knee and I only wear a sleeveless item if it covers at least 3/4 of my shoulder.
3. For footwear I tend to go with my more classic styles because they go with everything.
4. Sometimes symphonies do outdoor and community concerts these events are slightly more casual and informal. So it would be ok to wear a nice top and more casual bottoms.

Now for what I actually wore to the symphony. I chose this pink and black graphic print top that I found at T.J.Maxx because it gave the outfit some interest and looked a bit more youthful. I wore my pink Banana Republic cardigan over it because the top is sleeveless. I also chose this wonderful Kate Spade pencil skirt that I got at Nordstrom Rack for $15!!!! Then to top it all off I carried my polka dot Kate Spade bag and silver jewelry.
