My Favorite Fall 2016 Trends
I am so excited about the new fall fashions. Everything I have seen so far has been absolutely gorgeous. Plus I am super excited about some of the fall up and coming trends.
Here are my favorite Fall 2016 trends.
1. Jackets are going to be a big trend this fall especially leather and suede jackets.
2. Ankle boots are still going to be popular but this fall look for boots with a slightly taller shaft hitting just above the ankle.
3. Wool fedoras are going to be on the heads of every fashion girl come this fall.
4. Bomber jackets are the next big thing. Especially if it has patches.
5. Anything and everything VELVET!
For the look below I chose a beautifully embroidered velvet jacket from ASOS. I love, love, LOVE this jacket because you can dress it up or down and it will go with just about anything.
I paired it with my Free People flare jeans, Kate Spade bag, white top from the Banana Republic Factory Store, and a double buckle belt from Lulus.

My Blogging Journey + A Street Style Look
My blogging journey has been very challenging and rewarding for me. I had always wanted to start a fashion blog but I was always terrified of the writing aspect of starting a blog. Every time I would research starting a blog every page I read said that if you aren't good at writing or if you don't enjoy writing then you won't be a successful blogger. That is why it took me so long to start my blog. Writing was never easy for me throughout my education. I would always struggle in my classes that required a large amount of writing and frankly I hated writing.
Finally last November I mustered up my courage and decided to dive into the wonderful world of blogging. It has been a struggle sometimes for me figuring out what to write in my posts. Sometimes it takes me hours or even days to write a single post and I am always worried that my readers will notice that I am a terrible writer. But something else that I have noticed is that I am enjoying writing about something that I am passionate about. Maybe that's why I never enjoyed writing in school. Also my writing is improving according to my mom. And she would know being as I was homeschooled from kindergarten through 12th grade. She was a wonderful teacher and worked with me everyday on my writing to help me improve. I would not be where I am today if it weren't for her she was one of the main reasons why I decided to become an educator myself.
Slowly but surely I am starting to get better at writing my blog posts. Even though I am still very self conscious about my writing I am going to continue blogging. There are so many benefits to blogging besides wearing pretty clothes, taking photos, and sponsored posts. I have had the opportunity to meet so many wonderful women through blogging that have encouraged me and celebrated with me over my accomplishments. The blogging world is truly like a family especially here in Houston. There are so many bloggers here and each one has a unique voice.
If you are considering starting a blog but are afraid that you aren't a good enough writer I would suggest that you just go for it. I am so glad that I did.
I centered the below street style look around this fabulous cold shoulder top from ASOS. It is so soft, comfortable and roomy which I love. I was a little afraid of the high neck because this style neck usually makes me feel like I am being choked but it is actually not a problem. It did take a little getting used to but now I am totally fine with it.
I paired the top with y new favorite hat from Forever21, Paige Denim jeans, and simple black heels.

First Day of School + A Cute Green Dress
Today is the first day of school and I couldn't be more excited or more nervous. The first day of school is always a lot of fun but it is my first year teaching AP Music Theory which is why I am so nervous. I'm sure everything will turn out well but I want to know that I am teaching my students all the information they need to know. If today is your first day of school as well I hope you have a great first day and a terrific year.
For the following look I found this gorgeous green dress from ASOS. I loved the pleats on the skirt and the length is just perfect. I paired it with my new favorite hat from Forever21, Kate Spade bag, necklace from Nordstrom Rack, and Shoes from DSW.

How To Wear Patterned Pants
How To Wear Patterned Pants:
1. Try to choose pants with at least one neutral color included in the print. This will make it easier to choose a bag and shoes.
2. If your pants have a lot of different colors in the print, try to match your top to at least on of those colors.
3. Wear a solid colored top.
4. Choose shoes and a bag that match the neutral color in the pattern. If there isn't a neutral color choose one of the other colors in the pattern but not the one you matched with your top.
5. Wear understated jewelry. Allow the pants to make the statement not your jewelry.
6. Wear your pants with confidence. Remember you can pull off almost any look as long as you appear confident.
I have been looking for some cute patterned pants for fall and I absolutely fell in love with these pants from Lulus. They have these pants in several different patterns (they keep selling out so grab some when you can) but I thought I would get the most wear out of these black and white ones. Oh and by the way these pants are super comfortable. It felt like I was wearing sweatpants all day long. When I envisioned wearing these pants I always saw an edgier look. So I knew I would wear my black faux leather biker vest from Nordstrom Rack. It took me a while to choose the perfect top but I finally settled on this burgundy top from Ann Taylor that I have had for like 7 years. I mean it goes with everything. I have been looking for a comparable top for the last two years but haven't found one yet. I decided to carry my black bucket bag from Nordstrom and wear a simple pair of black booties. To top off the look I wore a black and gray snake chain necklace and silver chain bracelet from Forever21.

Boss Babe: Looks That Work Part 4
Well it's time for the last installment of my "Boss Babe" series. This last outfit is my power look. It exudes intelligence and professionalism. It also gives me so much confidence because I know this outfit looks great! In my profession most people tend to forget about dressing professional and dress instead for comfort. While they don't dress in casual outfits they still don't particularly dress in my opinion in a professional manner.
So how can you dress professional and comfortable?
Follow these easy steps:
1. Choose structured pieces. Not all structured pieces are stiff and uncomfortable. Try finding a nice structured blazer in a softer fabric or a pencil skirt.
2. If heels aren't your thing find a nice pair of flats. Don't just go for the plain jane black flats find some flats with some style or color.
3. Make sure you are purchasing and wearing nice quality clothing. Clothing that is old and worn gives you a sloppy look.
4. The most important thing you can wear is confidence. You can pull off almost any look as long as you appear confident.
For my last look I chose a snake skin print top from Banana Republic. Yes you can wear animal prints to work as long as you don't wear too much animal print and the item still looks professional. I paired it with my Kate Spade pencil skirt and black pumps from Nordstrom Rack. I finished off the look with some simple gold jewelry and my JORD watch.

Boss Babe: Looks That Work Part 3
This is probably my favorite look from this series. Not only is this look super comfortable but it is also super classy and chic.
I had been trying to put together a look featuring this top for a while but was never really happy with any of them until pulling this look together. I even tried pairing it with the skirt in my last post but it just didn't work.
Fortunately taking my time payed off because this outfit is amazing.
I have been so against tucking in my shirts in the past but after seeing so many fabulous looks lately featuring a tucked shirt I decided to try it.
As I was trying on this outfit I discovered some rules to wearing a tucked in shirt with pants.
1. The rise of the pant needs to be higher. I would say it should be no lower than an inch or two below your belly button.
2. Where a fabulous belt. This will really accentuate your waist.
The shirt is from Modcloth and the pants are from the White House Black Market outlet store. I got them on sale for $20. Score! The fantastic leopard print belt and green bag are from Target. The shoes are also from Modcloth.
